FOUR BASIC PROGRAMS

- Program “A”
- Program “B” (Groups)

- Program “C” (Private)

Foreign students can have the opportunity of studying at the oldest (1551) University of the Americas.

The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM)  in cooperation with Inka Nations International offer foreign students, graduate and undergraduate,  the opportunity to enroll in any of our Programs in order to broaden their knowledge of Latin American culture and the Spanish language.

One of our professors will evaluate the student's language proficiency in Spanish and make recommendations regarding the appropriate level of language proficiency.

The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos prides itself on having twenty “Facultades” or Colleges and numerous offerings for undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. degrees.

Literature, Anthropology, Archaeology, Art History and Linguistics, are just a representative sample of the most popular classes taken by foreign students.  Of course, graduate and undergraduate transfer credits are available.

The different Programs may include, among other culturally oriented activities, visits to museums and archaeological Inca and Pre Inca sites. One of the highlights is the visit to Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu.

Once you have decided which UNMSM Program fits you best, you are ready to go ahead and apply. Please be sure to read all pertinent information for your specific Program since each one have specific requirements that all applicants should be aware of prior to beginning this process.

PROGRAM “A”:

“Estudiantes Libres” (Directiva No. 002-OGCRI-2004)

Please note all coursework is in Spanish and that the teaching style at UNMSM tends to be lecture format. Peruvian classmates are often an excellent source of help.

Program “A”, being one of the most popular, may include up to two semesters of study and can begin either during the North American fall or spring semester:

Odd semester:   From March 15 to July 15

Pair semester:   From August to December 15

Students may choose classes at several different “Facultades” -as they're called at UNMSM- and grades, received according to Peruvian policies, will be transferred to student's home university.

This Study Abroad Program “A” is designed for foreign students from all academic disciplines who have at least two years of college or their equivalent in credits. It is designed for relatively independent graduate and undergraduate students who seek to matriculate in regular university courses at the Universidad Nacional de San Marcos and transfer their credits earned (See: Registration for the requirements).

Students will have full access to university facilities and services, including the university clinic, a general resources library, access to internet, gymnasium, cultural and academic activities and the Campus Loop Shuttle that transports the university community to various UNMSM locations.
